Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 September 2026. The short version: we collect almost nothing, we sell nothing, and you can ask us to delete anything.
Who this covers
This policy covers the TinyOhms website at tinyohms.com and the TinyOhms app for iPhone and iPad. TinyOhms is an electronics learning project for teens and beginners. We wrote this page so a teenager can read it and understand it.
The website
- Newsletter sign-up. If you type your email into the sign-up box, we store that email address and the fact that it came from the website. We use it only to send TinyOhms updates. To unsubscribe or have it deleted, email us (address below).
- Things saved in your browser. Your region choice for the price list and anything you build in the Workbench are saved in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device. We never see them.
- Hosting logs. The site is served by Amazon Web Services. Like every web host, AWS keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for a short time for security and reliability. We don't use them to identify you.
- Usage analytics (Google Analytics 4). Since 10 September 2026 the site loads Google Analytics so we can see which pages and projects people use and where the site is confusing. It records the pages you visit, roughly where you are (country or city), and your browser and device type, under a random id in a cookie. We don't send it your name, email or anything you build, we don't use it for ads, and we don't link it to your account. Google's own policy covers what Google does with the data: how Google uses information from sites that use its services. There are no advertising pixels or social-media buttons on this site.
The iOS app
- No account needed. You can build, simulate, export and subscribe without ever signing in. Everything you build is saved on your iPhone or iPad.
- Optional sign-in to save circuits. If you want to keep circuits in your own library (in the app and on the Workbench at tinyohms.com), you sign in with your email address and a six-digit code we email you. There is no password. We then store your email address, the circuits you choose to save (title, description and the board itself), so they follow you between the app and the website. We never post or share them; circuits are private unless we publish them in the shared library, which we only do with your say-so.
- Delete your account any time. In the app, open Circuits, tap your account, then "Delete account". That erases your email, saved circuits, parts list and sign-in sessions from our server immediately. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
- Purchases go through Apple. TinyOhms Pro is an App Store subscription. Apple handles payment and never gives us your card details. The app checks with Apple, on the device, whether your subscription is active. We don't link purchases to your email or run a receipts server.
- Usage analytics (Google Analytics 4). Since 15 September 2026 the app sends Google Analytics small usage events — which screens open, which library circuits are loaded, which kinds of part are placed, when Pro is bought — under a random id the app makes up when it is first installed, together with the app version and whether it is an iPhone or an iPad. It never sends your email, your circuit names, your boards or anything you type, and it is not used for ads or to follow you across other apps. Deleting the app deletes the id.
- No ads, no tracking across apps, and no permissions requested beyond playing sound.
Children and teens
TinyOhms is made for people aged roughly 11 to 17, so we designed it to need no personal information at all. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. The newsletter is meant for people 13 and over, or for parents. If you are a parent and believe a child under 13 has given us an email address, email us and we will delete it.
Who we share data with
We do not sell or rent any data. The only companies that process anything on our behalf are Amazon Web Services (hosting, the database that holds newsletter emails, accounts and saved circuits, and the email service that sends sign-in codes), Google (Google Analytics usage counts, described above) and Apple (App Store purchases).
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you (an email address, and any circuits you saved), ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we will do it within 30 days. If you are in the EU, UK or California you have these rights by law; we extend them to everyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters, we say so plainly here — as we did when Google Analytics was added to the site (10 September 2026) and the app (15 September 2026).
